Emailing creditors rather than writing??

Good Morning All,
Long story short, I have been waiting since January for my creditors to default my accounts before starting a DMP as I want to get the 6 year clock ticking sooner rather than later. In normal circumstances I know that it is the norm that companies wait until 3-6 months worth of missed payments have been registered before issuing defaults, while some take much longer. Now with the current situation, and rightly so because of the circumstances people find themselves in, my creditors have gone silent!
I am keen to push on and start my DMP.
My question is, would it be OK to email my creditor to tell them I am waiting for them to default me before I make an offer to start paying? Obviously once the accounts a defaulted then I will send my written payment offer via Royal Mail. The reason I ask is because I have got so many creditors, it will cost over £7 in stamps every time I send a letter.

Writing is best because it becomes a legal document and it will have your typed electronic signature.   Take the letter to the Post Office, hand it in over the counter and recieve a certificate of posting. A Certificate of Posting is your proof that you have posted the item. It is £7 well spent.

Save the original on your hard drive and send a hard copy to your creditor

Don't forget to include your customer reference number or account number.

    Thanks for the reply W2L.
Ok I will write to them. I have my offer letters generated using the self managed DMP on the CAB website. Do you think I should just add a line in the letter asking them to default my account first before I start paying? Or is this blackmail? Will they come down hard on me because I am offering to pay, but on the the condition that they default my account.

    Thanks for your help.

That is a good line.  Good idea.  Type it in though and dangle a carrot (ie Give them an expected start date for your self-managed DMP too).  But do type it all.  So that what you have saved on your pc will be an exact carbon copy of the original printed version.  I do **think** it likely that they will comply.
