Thanks for the advice guys. Waiting until next year is not actually an option.
Sill might need to be an option though, it could still get cancelled.
1 practice I looked at it say resources were being dedicated to the NHS, others could be the same.

I am completely bewildered and dismayed by this site!

To be honest I should have known that any post on a forum like this would cause an argument. Where are you people all coming from? I asked for advice on funding surgery not whether I should have it or not. I am not a child, I have thoroughly researched the work I want done, I have made sure that I can stay in my home while I'm recovering and I have discussed the situation concerning recovery time extensively with my employer.

Normally, people are back at work after 2-4 weeks but on light duties. We don't do "light duties", it is a very physical job (Equestrian Groom) so I will be out for the entire recovery period (6-8 weeks).

I asked advice on the BEST OPTION out of the ones I have given, I have not asked for suggestions about other options not listed such as saving up. I am not so thick that I am not aware that saving up would be the best option financially but probably not the best option either spiritually or emotionally. Moreover, I didn't ask for advice on building my credit rating. The "advice" above about when to pay credit card balances was flawed, and that is straight from the bank; it doesn't make the blind bit of difference when or how often you pay balances.

This is supposed to be a financial advice site, not one that discusses the health or moral implications of plastic surgery.

Don't worry Tara----these MSE Forums illustrate the best and the very worst of the human spectrum.
Some are here to genuinely try and help people, some hate all newcomers, some are here to be deliberately nasty and some are here to talk among themselves like some kind of club.
Your opening posting seems to set out sensible options. Personally, I think that you should use as much of your savings as possible, to avoid debt as much as possible ( especially as you say you may well have close to the full amount saved by the time of your surgery). So savings + as small a loan as poss seems best----keeping back a fraction of your savings if it makes you feel more
"comfortable" ( which is an understandable human reaction). Good luck,Tara, and don't judge the whole Forum on some of replies you have received-----you have certainly been singled out for some of the worst examples of MSE members.

Oh dear I do apologize Tara_UK.  You are right it is your post on MSE forum. The last poster asking about the Boob jobs was Tara_M. Another Tara who likes an underscore but a totally different Tara. My mistake. I hope you find the advice you are looking for.
  • I can't remember the name of the programme but there's a bbc programme where people who are considering plastic surgery watch & talk to surgeons & people who've undergone the relevant procedure.

it was interesting to see how many changed their minds afterwards.

im sure it's on iplayer if the op is interested

I know all of the risks and I know what's involved. I have been waiting a long time to get to this point in my life and I have no intention of changing my mind. Of course I worry that it may not turn out the way I hope and I am slightly disappointed that it would be a physical impossibility to take it as far as I'd like (though it will come close enough to make me happy). There may be complications, I might not heal properly etc. but this is my choice.

The advice (plus the rest) I gave you would be the same I would give to anyone I knew who were considering the same as yourself.
