Virgin mobile non-defaults

Hello, just wanted to make sure I should be able to get a pair of accounts off my Equifax file.
They are from 2012 with Virgin Mobile and no payments have been made since 2012 when I had severe financial difficulties.
Have managed to clean up my file but these are still hanging about.
I have never been defaulted by them however with my record showing 6 months late payment since 2014.
It shows the accounts opened in 2012 but reporting only seems to start from mid-2014.
I was going to use Resolver but seems Virgin no longer working with them so If I write to them claiming they are statute barred and should have been defaulted 8 years ago and therefore no longer on my file will that be sufficient?
Thanks,
James
