Hi,
I am currently saving up the BR fee and hope to have it by June 22. However, I have a debt collection agency hassling me in the meantime. What can I do to stop them? Seems daft to pay them anything as I need to save the fee?

Tell em yer going bankrupt and they ain`t getting a penny !!Seriously, it dosen`t matter does it, of course you don`t pay them anything, just ignore them, they are only acting on behalf of their client, what can they do ? absolutly nothing is the answer.Stop worrying, have a great VE day, save up your fee.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Haha great advice, you too0

Remember You don’t need to talk to them (in fact if they are being persistent, continuing to engage with them may encourage future calls)0
-
I would only talk to them to let them know it will be another couple of months before they hear from the OR as it will take me that to save the £680 fee. Hopefully this will prevent balifs coming as I don't want my landlord to know.0

Also, with TV licence arrears, do they lower the IPA until you pay them back ?0
-
Tv license arrears would be written off in bankruptcy I think, whether you have an IPA wouldn’t factor in to it. The only impact could be if tv licensing were to take you to court and you had a fine (which doesn’t get written off in bankruptcy)0

Just for information purposes, you are mixing up debt collectors with bailiffs, bailiffs can only attend once a county court judgement has been granted, and you have failed to pay, very few debt collectors do home visits now, one or two companies at the most, and of course none are operating in the present climate. Please do your research on this, and try to resist posting mis-leading statements about bailiffs when no legal action has been taken, i understand its easy to jump to conclusions when you don`t know the answers, but this information is freely available on the .Gov website amongst others.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks for both your advice. I think my information has come from the letters which come from DC agency's which is often overbearing and intentional misleading0

Once you have decided to go bankrupt you stop paying everyone with the exception of your mortgage or rent. Continuing to pay them is just setting fire to money.
