Unrecognised Lowell Reference Numbers

So I seem to be having an issue with paying off some debts that are owned by Lowell.
Over the past 4 or 5 years I've struggled with addiction and alcohol dependence and racked up a couple grands worth of debt, bounced between jobs and have never really been financially stable. 2 of these debts were with CapitalOne and Vanquis, 1 was a lending stream payday debt (was not compos mentis when this was applied for) and the last was an EE phone contract. Since I stopped paying them due to my drink and drug problems, they've obviously been passed over to Lowell. They're still showing up on my credit report as Lowell, but here's the catch, every time I try to phone Lowell to arrange a payment plan, my reference numbers for all of these debts aren't recognised. All I want to do is pay these debts off so I can start rebuilding my credit score and not have this financial horror hanging over me anymore.
Has anyone got any advice? Has this happened to anyone else?

*N.B: I'm sober and a lot more financially stable now

They will write to you if the want any money.  I wouldn't do anything until you receive proper correspondence in writing.

    Hi,
Debt purchasing is pretty straightforward, Lowell buy your accounts and then allocate there own reference number to each account, they then write to you advising you of the sale, and of the various payment options they offer, there’s no need to ring them, no need to speak to anyone, no reference numbers of your own required, everything can be done and set up online.
The problem you describe should not exist.

Also pay no attention to your made up credit score, it’s not used by anyone, and has little relevance to your credit worthiness.
