Air fryer

Anyone have one and recommend it or is it just an alternative to using my convection oven? I would like very crispy-shelled sweet potato fries with soft centres, no burning. I'm not sure if it'll be just another kitchen gadget I never use gathering dust in my cupboard - if you have one and love it, please tell me the brand?

  • hello. I can’t live without mine. Mine is called  a Fryair. I think I paid about £170 for it. It’s brilliant!

I bought a Tefal Actifry ( I think is was called ) years ago.
Used it a few times but it was a right old faff to clean so binned it.
Waste of money, for me anyway.

My friends have one but I'm not convinced, things come out crispy but not quite crispy enough, in my view.
If you want crispy sweet potato fries, toss them in cornstarch, and then oil, and bake them. If that's not crispy enough, I'm a big fan of them deep fried in tempura batter, too.

I was just going to start a thread and ask about the Lidl one.  It's made by Salter.  My Mum loves the idea of it but I have had some friend who say they love it and others say it's a complete waste of time and money.

It's this one and it's about £40 at Lidl.  Has anyone got this one?  Any good?  I've read online reviews and folks seem to love it:
