Hi all,
Basically I've been referred to a Tier 3 weight management in Cambridgeshire for my obesity issues. I have an appointment for June 17th (hopefully this Sunday will be the announcement of lockdown being eased).
It's a shame really no one told me about the Tier 3 weight management; I had to find the service myself and had to be asked to have an appointment there. Nevertheless, I'm in for an appointment soon! I have obviously been reading about the service online, but I would like to hear someone's story (or stories) of going to a Tier 3 weight management service. How did you find it? Did you manage to lose the weight? Will the service help with emotional/compulsive eating issues?

Hello, I had tier 3 weight management in a different part of the country. I then went onto tier 4 (surgery) tier 3 varies county to county depending what health trust you come under.
tier 3 where I am is very much about portion control and teaching you how to eat. You are told you should be on x portions of carbs, x portions of protein and x portions of fat and exactly what makes a portion. 20g of cheese is a portion for example. Was very helpful in the early days. Personally I found team rh on Facebook much more realistic and supportive and they helped me loose more weight pre surgery than tier 3 did. Tier 3 in this area also includes psychological support as if you are looking to surgery you need to realise it’s not a straight forward operation. You still have the head demons to contend with. I would suggest looking to Facebook if you have it. There are a number of support groups on there. Generally search wls or bariatric or gastric sleeve/gastric bypass. If you want info re specific groups please message me and I will give you details of the groups I’m in that are helpful.
good luck with your journey and please remember being on tier 3 doesn’t mean you have to go to tier 4.0
