I have a charge against my house for £16000, the charge was taken out in 2010 because they say I never replied to a letter.
i have now had a copy of said letter which is addressed to my late wife who passed away 2 years before said letter.
link financial say the amount is now £22000 due to interest, on my original contract it states that any interest cannot be part on any legal proceedings. They inform me that the judge overruled this and they can.... I was in a bad way in 2010 and never checked the letter in my wife’s name. I had never missed a payment on the ccj, I do not know what I can do if anything. Any advice would be appreciated.

Whose debt was it? If the debt was in your wife's name, it suggests the house was in joint names or her name.

Who dealt with the estate as it should have been dealt with then.

Hi Galloglass, the debt was in both names as was the mortgage, link financial sent me an instalment confirmation of the ccj, they also sent a demand for full payment to my wife which I ignored as they were informed at the time of her death and said they would remove her from the claim. That is the one they applied for CO.
