Paypal for selling your junk?

Hi, I'm thinking about making some extra cash by selling the random c***p I've been accumulating over several decades. There's a lot. I'm a borderline hoarder! I think I want to use PayPal because of the coronavirus thing but I've never used it before. I'm 54!! Can anybody tell me please...
Do I need a business user account? Will they charge me for this and will the tax man want a cut?

Its not c***p, its collectables. Private account is fine. Paypal charge a percentage, check their site. Ask on the ebay board about taxable income from small private sellers or further paypal queries.
  • Thanks Norman :) there probably is some collectable c**p in there!! There's everything from railway sleepers to an old Xr3i in the shed. The xr3i will be the last thing to go but I've had it for 10 years and never run it on the road!

There's very likely to be an owners club and forums for the xr3i. Insist on cash for that otherwise the percentage will be plenty. I wouldn't rush to sell it, it'll appreciate.
  • Cheers, it's 'not eating owt' as my old Dad always used to say.

If items are being collected DO NOT take PayPal. For full seller protection you need to prove delivery to the address PayPal give you and they warn you that PayPal is not suitable for collected items.

If you are posting then come over to the eBay sub board as there is a sticky thread about PayPal seller protection.
