    Update:

Aqua changed their mind and emailed me to say "Actually, nah"
Tesco changed their mind and also emailed me to say "Actually, nah".

*Shrug* I guess I'll keep my little teal Tandem card with it's £150 limit and use it for one tank of fuel a month, see where we stand a year from now.
Aqua have always been a bit picky for me, they are also quite quick to drop limits unless you sustain usage. I’d guess that most providers will want to see a good few months of positive use history in new card before they issue you one. Three cards early on after discharge could look like your desperate for credit

Yeah absolutely, I'll leave things just as they are now for a year and re-assess the situation next Summer.

Gives me time to settle a couple of fights I have on my hands too, like NPower who have written to me claiming it's their "business policy" to not mark defaulted accounts as settled following a bankruptcy as the balance was never paid, despite this being in direct contravention with what the ICO guidelines state, so I'll have to escalate matters to the ICO on that front.

I'm still going to do whatever's required to have Moriarty Law update their CCJ against me as satisfied, too. The ICO guidelines have changed somewhat since the sticky was created with post-BR credit file clean up letter templates. The guidance notes are now a little more fuzzy and open to interpretation -

"Once you have been discharged you will have to notify each of the lenders whose accounts were included in this bankruptcy as they will not automatically be told. You should send them the evidence of this and ask them to amend their entry on your credit file to reflect this. The specifics of how it will look vary depending on the CRA but the entries should be marked in such a way that any lender searching your credit file can clearly see that this debt is no longer outstanding and you are not being pursued for it. Most accounts that have been discharged from bankruptcy will show as settled/satisfied or partially settled/satisfied with a zero balance outstanding."

I'm going to push the stance that this means the CCJ must be updated to show a satisfaction date of the discharge date of my bankruptcy. It seems the only logical conclusion to me and if Moriarty Law don't update the court within 28 days I'll escalate the matter to ICO along with NPower.

Imma go full Scrappy Doo on this :D

I'm surprised capital one turned you down.
I got that one and an ocean card while still bankrupt.
Have you tried clear score? they will give you a free credit report and % chance of being accepted for a card.
Now I'm out of bankruptcy, it's annoying I can't pay for even cheap things via klarna...

Yeah capital ones credit eligibility checker provides a flat no.

I suspect it might have something to do with the fact that I bank with Monzo, who don't report account conduct to Equifax, and Capital One primarily search Equifax, so in their eyes I don't have a bank account.

I'm in the process of taking my banking elsewhere.

It doesn't bother me though. I have one card on the way (tandem). That's plenty to start rebuilding history.

It may also be that their customers have been hard hit by Coronavirus, and this has lessened thier appetite for risk just now

I mean, to be fair I'm still amidst a fight to get all my old debts marked as satisfied too. I jumped the gun a little applying for anything.

Still got two CCJs and two defaults showing as outstanding; I can see that with at least one of the CCJs I'm going to have to take it to the ICO.

I've read the revised ICO guidance notes they updated since the DPA was replaced with GDPR and the wording about making sure old debts are marked as satisfied isn't limited to just Defaults now; which means, according to ICO guidelines, I should be able to get the CCJs updated as Satisfied as of the date I was discharged too.

The revised wording is on the ICO website:

Once you have been discharged you will have to notify each of the lenders whose accounts were included in this bankruptcy as they will not automatically be told. Most accounts that have been discharged from bankruptcy will show as settled/satisfied or partially settled/satisfied with a zero balance outstanding.

If any of the lenders respond refusing to amend their entry or fail to amend their entry within one month of receiving your proof of discharge you may wish to make a complaint to the ICO. Please note, in this instance it is the lender who is the subject of any complaint you raise with us, not the CRA.

how long have you been discharged, when my IVA completed things were updated for a few months after completion, this perhaps wasn't helped by the debts being sold on in a few cases. I think 1 month is a little quick to complain, especially as most credit history reportinv sites (free ones anyway) are updated once a month and many lenders update at similar frequency.

I'm not complaining to anyone, I'm just making lawful requests under the GDPR and escalating them to the ICO if they aren't actioned within the statutory 28 days.

    Curious update...

My Tandem Card arrived in the post today, I activated it over the phone and was told it's active, but couldn't add it to Pay Pal.

Called back and they have advised me that the account is actually "Closed due to bank policy".

    *Shrug*

    Fine.

Entirely my fault for jumping the gun and applying for anything before all my old accounts were marked as satisfied.

Sorry I didn’t mean it that way. More give things a chance to work through the system before taking further steps. There’s nothing wrong in taking steps now and us your right to do so, it may just be unnecessary work on on your part

I need to send a letter to Lloyd’s Bank to ask them to change an account status, I found an address but it must have been out of date and my letter was returned.
I called head office and they were no help with the address required and then gave me a number to call but as I am not a customer there wasn’t an option for me to get through to a human.
Does anybody have an address for Recoveries department at Lloyd’s please?
