so there is nothing stopping me pressing the button now, apart from fear I suppose. I’ve got the fee money ready, I’ve withdrawn some money for if/when acc frozen. I know I can’t continue in the current situation. It just seems so final and scary. Please tell me it will be ok

I’ve been getting £300 per month from my brother to pay for food etc as I had nothing left after bill payments. Obviously this has stopped and my ex husband has informed me he wont be able to pay maintenance for the kids as his wages are cut and he has nothing spare. Will the OR accept this. I’m worried they will think I’m trying to keep this money a secret. I’m not this is what has been the push into taking action. I’m definitely overthinking now0

You will be ok, once it is done and you've had your interview you will wonder why it took so long to do, The relief for me when it was all done was amazing, finally being able to rest at night0

Promise you. Do it x0

The OR will take current situation into account x0

Well that’s it, I’ve pressed the button and I feel sick, my stomach is in knots and I’m now petrified of the next steps. Im worried they will tell my landlord (no arrears) and we will lose our home, I don’t want my family finding out, right this minute I’m a ball of stress. I hope it passes quickly and I can try and form a life where I’m not adding up the shopping as we go through the supermarket and squeezing the kids into clothes that are too small really but no money to buy next size yet. Time to put my big girl pants up
i suppose and face the next steps1 -
My landlord was not informed...I was up to date with all payments.
The examiner just wanted to see my tenancy agreement.
I think that's pretty standard procedure0 -
I signed an initial 12 month agreement and paid the deposit 5 years ago, since then I’ve just continued to pay him by bank transfer each month so I have all the receipts if needed. The housing benefit accepted this so hopefully the OR will too as it’s never occurred to me to get another contract. Probably incase he increases the rent! He is a private landlord not agency0

Sounds like perhaps landlord is happy just to have someone who pays the rent and doesn’t trash the place. Maybe he could get 100 a month more, but if that causes you to move agency fees will eat any gain quite quickly, and he may end up with bad tenant.0

If you had an initial 12 month contract then it goes onto monthly rolling .
Have you kept the initial contract?
I really don't think there will be any problems with this at all

Yes I’ve got it all filed away safely. He is pleased with me as a tenant. He always comments that the house looks better than when I moved in. Apart from teaching and playing with the kids I have actually spent lockdown, painting the hall, dining room, living room, outside wall, railings and front door and the back yard wall and fence panels. Painting has kept my mind sane. So it’s fair to say I definitely look after his house, it might be rented but it’s our home and I try to make it as nice as can be.
Thanks guys. I know it’s only a guess but do you think I’ll have a decision tomorrow, it’s ‘under consideration’ now1
