Restrictions on repeat prescriptions

I went to pick up my repeat prescriptions from Boots and usually I have two months supply but was told by the pharmacist that the government has now put restrictions on repeats. I spoke to my gp surgery who informed me that the government put these restrictions in place since Coronavirus. I wasn’t told about this and as I pay for my prescription this is now doubling the cost (I have 2 medications on the prescription) so it’s costing £18 per month rather than two months. Was this change told to anyone?

The NHS has always recommended 28 days for repeats with some exceptions. It now looks like they are mandating it.
Looking at CCG policies on repeats, most were 28 days anyway.
With 2 items on your prescription then it would still have been cheaper for you to get a prepayment certificate. £106 pa against the £108 you were paying. Even more so now. You can pay by DD over 10 months.

Don't forget that over a year you actually get 13 'monthly' prescriptions as they are 28 days not a calendar month.

I know a couple of asthma medications were put on to 28-day supplies because of a supply issues owing to Covid-19. I believe this to be  a temporary measure. It was covered in some of the more news-conscious papers

Been like that for ages for me, over a year. Your doctors were obviously late and have been told to get in line.

Anyway, good time to start paying a falt £10.40 a month I would think. Both me and OH do.
