I know this is an old thread and not really relevant but I have the same quandaries about being out and about in our village on my mobility scooter.

I used to go out for trips around the area, but stopped last year altogether, as both my husband and I are vulnerable.

I've got I don't want to be outside our garden for fear of coming across people (and have a mask on if I meet our offspring in the garden for a short visit).

As I know most of the people who would be strolling they'd probably want to stop to chat, it would be easier passing strangers I think!

Have had first jab so hopefully I'll feel more like venturing out after the second - but its so easy to be frightened into becoming a recluse.

Chances of catching it outside are very low. If you meet people who are keen to chat and are getting closer than you are comfortable with just explain you and your husband are vulnerable. Many people are forgetful or feel safe near people they know but will happily keep their distance when asked.

Yes, I think so many now are going back to the 'old normal' - and it just feels so stressful to have to watch out for other people all the time and it seems rude (though I know its not) to treat others as if they are contagious.

Its something a lot of us who have isolated since last Feb will have to get used to - we isolated before the official one as we could see what was going to be happening.

Thanks Danny - yes I think we just have to get back into 'outside life' quietly!

Have been out for two drives to quiet places to get back into the feel of actually leaving our house/lane!
