Back After a Few Years Break

Options
Hello!
I used to do comping a few years ago and won some pretty cool stuff! I forgot my old MSE account so had to start again with this new account. Ive noticed the forum has changed quite a lot. Im still getting used to it all. But I'm so happy to see some familiar usernames posting the competitions from many years ago, it feels like coming back to an old family. I'm excited to celebrate your wins with you and hopefully win some of my own!!

How often do you find you are winning? How many competitions do you enter?

Welcome back! I enter pretty much anything on the board except IG as I don't like tagging. Most of my wins recently seem to have come from Twitter. Doesn't seem to be as many web comps as there used to be but I guess that might be to do with the current situation.
    Wins in 2023 - 35
    Wins in 2022 - 43
    Wins in 2021 - 62
    Wins in 2020 - 68
    Wins in 2019 - 5

    Welcome back!
I used to enter 100+ a day and win anywhere from 2-12 wins a month. I now only enter around 10-50 a day if that and am winning around 2-4 competitions a month. Most my wins are very small but have had the occasional larger win, like a camper van holiday at the end of last year, unfortunately I was unable to go though as we had a very ill pet. But it was lovely to win it, just shame because of the circumstances. Just enter as many as you feel comfortable entering and enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

Yes I had noticed there seems to be a lot less to enter than there used to be. Hopefully it will start picking up again soon! I imagine a lot of people have extra spare time to enter too so probably not great odds of winning. But its all part of the fun! And makes winning all the more sweeter! I did enter a few IG competitions but I didn't like having to follow loads of accounts so I soon stopped. Do you find you get notified by most of your wins via email or just sent to your door?

Oh that's such a shame that you didn't get to enjoy the holiday you won! I do wonder what will happen with all the holiday prizes at the moment. Hopefully they will give out extensions on using the prize!
2-4 wins a month would be great to win! Same as I asked Red Fox above, Do you find you get notified by most of your wins via email or just sent to your door?

Thanks to you both! Good luck!

There has been a reduction in web based comps and a big rise in social media and widget comps. I generally avoid those types. A few years ago, up to 2014 I aimed for 1000 comps a month, usually exceeding it (over 19000 comps in 2012) but then started to weed out low value, and useless to me, things like dvds, as a consequence I have been entering around 10000 a year since but that is looking like dropping significantly this year. Also, I used to be winning around 20 prizes a year, now i'm lucky to get 3 or 4. Trouble is, the more people who get in on comping, the less chance there is of winning.

    2025 Comps 2931: wins 3: value £1300
    2024 Comps 13526: wins 13: value £1475

I have done much the same: been away for awhile - now re-visiting an old hobby due to lockdown - and now noticed that most comps use social media instead of just using a name and address form. Even prompted me to join Twitter, but it's difficult as not everyone (hard to believe, I know) likes social media for whatever reason.
I wish I had thought of a better user name as this makes me sounds greedy :( It was meant more tongue-in-cheek.

Welcome back.   I just enter competition's where I think I can benefit from the prize or someone I know could benefit from the prize.  I also enter by post all the high value comps from ITV etc.  I too have noticed lack of comps to enter, however, understandable in the current circumstances, and of course some prize suppliers may not be at work or survive depending on how far this goes.
Thanks to all the competition posters.
