I've used Postoptics for four or five years and they have been great, generally around 100 pounds for a years supply of monthly contacts and solution.

I wonder if any of the new firms can beat Postoptics.
Specsavers doesn't stock J&J Surevue lenses, and over the years J&J seem to
    work well for my eyes.

I have had trouble in the past getting a prescription. Now when I make an appointment, I tell them it's just for a prescription to buy contacts online.
Some still try it on, trying the hard sell, after care blah blah, but if they won't agree to give me the prescription, I leave and try another optitions.

Perhaps Tesco or Asda will work out cheap, but I haven't tried them yet.

It's been a while since I wore contact lenses, but every time I tried to get soft lenses in the past the opticians told me they weren't suitable for astigmatism and I had to have gas permeable which I could never really get on with. Has lens technology advanced or is it a case different levels of astigmatism?

Technology has certainly advanced if you haven't been for a while.

Monthly Toric lenses have been around for a while and recently daily torics came out.

I have been using monthly torics for a while and they are absolutely fine.

They are of course more expensive that the non-toric versions and there is a limited range that they fit.

If you have a very severe astigmatism then you might find you are outside of the prescription range, but the technology is improving all the time.

I think it depends how bad your eyes are. One of mine is a bit wonky, but I have soft lenses. They do Bifocal contacts now, so I think the technology has moved forward.
Have a word with an optition.

Is that a technical term? :)

Thanks, will definately ask, need new specs desperately but as last pair (which I broke) cost about 300 quid, lenses seem a more reasonable option.

    I buy from http://www.contactlenses.co.uk/

Have done for a while now, they deliver very quickly, for free!

I buy purevision -3.50, usually just one box at 22.50 delivered. That contains 3 lenses so for £45 every two months i get 3 pairs of 30 day wear contact lenses. sweet. Beat that with the same brand etc and i'll be even happier!

I've just done a very quick check online, for my next order of 12 months supply of
J&J Surevue monthly lenses, without solutions. I think p&p is included for all 3 firms.

    Sightcare 2000.com 57.50.
    Vision Direct 58.00 pounds.
    Postoptics 59.00 pounds.
    Contactlenses.co.uk 74.00 pounds.

So for my order Vision Direct seems the cheapest, so far. If I was adding solutions, I remember Postoptics give you a discount, so they would probably be cheapest.

Even with discount lenses, I guess it pays to shop around.
