Thinking about the scales of cancellations that might happen in august. Does Abta have the resources to cover all our holiday refunds if many companies go bust? This is an industry wide crisis is there enough money in the system to cover everyone? Will we get refunds if it runs out of cash

As well as their own resources they own a captive insurance company based in Guernsey, so there should be no problem. In truth, despite everyone looking for ABTA protection, most protection in the case of failures is covered by the government-backed ATOL system. ABTA only protects non air travel, which is a relatively small proportion of the total number of holidays sold1
