Cheque payment

Options
Hi,
one of my debts has been passed to Triton Credit services who in there letter have asked me to pay £250 for three months then the remaining balance of £5000 on month four. I have paid the first months now by debit card but they have never sent a receipt (do they have to provide a receipt if one asked for?)for the payments I have made and although they show on my bank statement I am worried they may say I have not paid. The other point is in the letter they stress that the full balance MUST be paid after month three otherwise action will be taken against me, but the lady on the phone when I last made my payment said as long as I continued with my £250 a month that would be fine, which should I believe?

Lastly if by some bit of good fortune I find the £5000 to pay the balance off in three months, I would want to pay by cheque so that I had prove of clearing the debt, but as far as I can tell Triton Credit Services do not offer this way to pay, you have to pay by debit card by phone, they don't seem to have an address for you to send a cheque payment, does anyone have any ideas,
Thanks,
Justin

  • Sending a personal cheque is not always a good idea cos they can return it. You could send a bankers cheque by registered post though...

    Hi Justin_GB,

It looks as if you aren't the only one struggling to find their address. There is another post here but you may need to be quick before it is moved.

You could try going back to the original creditor to ask for the address, that might work.

I have learn to only deal with these people in writing that way they have no choice but to provide an address. I also ask for statements on a regular basis and haven't failed to receive one yet!! but I may have been lucky.

Finally, if you do manage to get the £5K together, try for a "Full and final settlement" of quite a bit less. If they accept your offer, get it in writing before making the payment. If you manage to save a few hundred quit it has to be worth a try. I think that there are some sample offer letters on the forum somewhere.
