Why cant you use a landline for radio competitions?

Options
There are a number of radio competitions at the moment whereby you can win cash: -
Have you noticed that the free entry route only allows mobile numbers? Surely this is not fair to those that dont have or want to own a mobile phone as you can't enter a landline number, also it could be a better option for some to give a landline especially if you live in an area with patchy mobile phone signal that keeps dropping, or worse still no signal at all.

The simple answer is they want a mobile number and it's up to them (pretty much has always been a mobile number for these as far as I remember).

As the paid for option requires a mobile number there is no reason why the free entry route should not also require it.

I have always been able to enter the Bauer ones with a landline. They have never phoned me to tell me I have won and since upgrading my old brick to a smart phone I do enter a mobile number now.
I was unaware that you could not put in a landline number.

The entry forms specifically state Mobile Number

...But it accepts a landline number. You would think that if it didn't it would not accept any number not starting 07 - but it does.

Whether it's accidentally a wrong number or not a mobile one it doesn't really matter to them if someone is making free invalid entries

I think the main reasoning is that most people have mobile phones nowadays but a lot of people have ditched landlines. My mobile is cheaper than the landline for calls, I am payg but even if I took out a contract it would still work out cheaper than a landline.

I have never been able to put in a landline number, always get an error message saying not a valid mobile number. Very annoying; there are still a lot of us out here who do not use mobiles (I only use one for competitions and that’s it!)
