  • I have got a friend coming to visit from New York in December. I was thinking of asking her to get me one and bring it with her. I am pretty sure they are region free - could someone just confirm that for me. Also - if anyone knows any US retailers to check for best prices - that would be a great help.

If they are not region free - I think I will go for the John Lewis one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

DS's are region free. We've bought US games or our UK DS's.

Only issue may be you get a US 110V power supply but you can get 3rd party ones here, and it's probably worth asking them to check it's OK screen wise before they visit (ie no dead pixels) as it's a long way to return it..

  • hey guys,
for those who want to get a DS with games for christmas, I have a better suggestion.

Just buy the DS separately and buy a M3 Real card and a MicroSD card (2gb).

The M3 Real card and the MicroSD card will only set you back about £40 including delivery and with them, you can play all games from one card.

You'll save a lot of money and you won't have to keep inserting and ejecting cards to play different games.

All games you download into your microSD card can be playable through the M3 card.

However, legally you must have the original games in order to use "back-up" games. with the card, you can also use the internet through "home-brew" software which are applications for the DS created from scratch by users. You can also get lots of fun homebrew games for free!
  • Thank you! I've just ordered a silver one on its own (didn't want any of the bundles -- Deal or No Deal?) from game.co.uk. Curiously, the image of the item says * * * SOLD OUT * * *, but the availability-status text on the item page (and ultimately on my confirmation notice) says that it's available for immediate despatch.

Odd that the * * * SOLD OUT * * * flag should be a part of the main item graphic: are they trying to hold back the deluge of customers who would visit the site trying to get their hands on what seem to be the last few DS Lites in the UK?

I am banking on the text being more up to date than the image.

Doesn't matter what colour console,it isn't just white as i bought a black one.
Perhaps different stores have different offers or rules ?

  • Howdy,

These seem to be like gold dust at the moment, and although this price is slightly higher than the RRP of £99.99, its prob one of the few chances to get a pink one before xmas.

Its on Amazon marketplace from Pixmania for £104.21 delivered. Condition is new. I've just ordered one.
