Hi hope you are all well. just going through pensions paperwork. I got bits of paperwork everywhere from 3 different pensions I been in over the years. just wondering if anyone has used the pension wise website and if so was it any good. I'm sort of thinking of asking them for advice as to what do. ie invest more, invest less, or just do nothing.

They don't give advice, just provide generic information and 'guidance'.1

How old are you?
Do you have a current pension scheme? If so, what kind?
What kind of pensions are those that relate to previous employments?
Have you obtained a state pension forecast?

PensionWise can be very helpful but like others said they do not give you any investment advice. If you take all your pension paperwork in they will explain more about what the pensions are and what options you have to take them. Only you can decide how much you need in retirement and if you have enough in your pensions. Or you can pay an INDEPENDENT financial advisor to help you (won't be cheap)
You've got to be over 55 to make a PensionWise appointment (it's free).
EDIT: My bad, you need to be over 50 (as others kindly pointed out and I knew that really ;-) )0 -

I had a small private pension that I had asked an IFA to review. She said that if she looked at it her charges were so high that there would be nothing left. So just after I was 50 I went to pension wise. They wouldn't give any advice either. It all just seemed to be a very expensive way to educate people on the different options available to take a private pension pot.0

Perhaps the IFA had you sussed pretty early on and was putting you off gently as they didnt want to deal with you. Assuming that you actually saw an IFA in the first place, which is doubtful given your past posting history.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.5 -
I had a meeting with them a couple of years ago. I understand they should not give advice but the lady I saw actually said "if I were you.......""0
