Hi, I hope someone can help. I made some shepherds pies for my mum, and they are in those tinfoil containers in her freezer.

Should they be defrosted at fridge or room temperature before cooking, or can they be put in the oven straight from the freezer?

Obviously cannot defrost in the microwave because the tinfoil isn't suitable.

I defrost at room temperature before putting in the oven and have never had a problem

Thanks rchddap1, that means she'll have to have something else for lunch today! Better safe than sorry :).

I wonder if anyone has tried cooking home-frozen meals straight from frozen, and if so what the result was.

I cook straight from frozen with no ill-effects.

I tend to put the frozen dish in when the oven is cold, so that it slowly defrosts and then gets "blasted". I have no idea how you are meant to do it though, so I will look forward to someone giving a definitive answer!

I cook from frozen too its no different to those tv dinners as they are already pre cooked and you normally just whack those in the microwave.
