Elderly parents won't stop making unnecessary trips to the supermarket!!!

It sounds like you've had some good advice, and your brother sounds like he is very sensible. Hopefully your brothers chat with your parents will have persuaded them to go out less often, but reading/watching the news less often might also be a good option for you.
It definitely sounds like your anxiety might be flaring up so maybe a telephone consultation with the doctor might be a good idea.2 -
I tend to be in the "if they want to go out then let them" group - I would be out and about if I was elderly, they didn't call pneumonia "the old man's friend" for nothing1

My anxiety is chronic, I've been like this since puberty. Before coronavirus it was reading the rolling news about Brexit! I do have things that help me, like weightlifting and riding my bike. Diet and exercise are crucial, together with watching my consumption of alcohol, caffeine.Last year I really got into Hot Yoga which I found very beneficial - but I can't see anyone being able to do that again any time soon!Right now being at my parents in the house where I grew up, I have the security of being with people who love me. But since I'm away from my flat there's not much I can do, apart from read a book (if I can every calm down enough) or go for walks. Spending time outside of the house in nature is good for me.It's clear that people have different attitidues to risk and what level of precautions to take during this pandemic. In today's Times there's an article about young people who've gone back be with their parents for the lockdown. One guy said his mother had got a chemical toilet and a camping-bed set up, in case any of them needed to be quarantined away from all the others. That just sounds sensible to me!0
