After all this is over i've thought about getting cctv installed after mindless vandalism,But who deletes the footage after 30 days is it automatic or under the guidelines do i need to only have one accessed person to do so?

Not sure which guidelines you're referring to - some footage may need to be kept for more than 30 days. See https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisations/documents/1542/cctv-code-of-practice.pdf for more information.makemerich12 said:After all this is over i've thought about getting cctv installed after mindless vandalism,But who deletes the footage after 30 days is it automatic or under the guidelines do i need to only have one accessed person to do so?2 -
At work, it only starts recording if there is movement, which makes it easier to have recordings going back for a longer period.
We may watch the CCTV: in a previous job it was only ever played back out of hours, because we had to stop recording in order to do that. However, if the evidence was needed for a police investigation, they would come in and copy the recordings from our hard drive to their USB stick: we NEVER copy any of the recordings.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -

Perhaps the best people to ask are the people who would supply the CCTV for you as I should expect they could tell you how their system works.0 -
Generally 30/31 days are chosen for convenience. The system is programmed to over-write the oldest data based on how long you want to retain the images. Can be daily, usually 31 days. Although, I've had one where the retention was six months! (now, that was expensive due to quantity and resolution of the cameras). Most problems would be noticed in that time, and the longer the period between over-writing means the more data to search, even with all the tools the system software gives you. Also, longer retention periods mean more storage is required, although Video Motion Detection helps this. Do you need 24/7/365? All adds up. You need to speak to a supplier and tell them your requirements/would likes. They can then give you options and you can see what your budget will accommodate. Also, higher resolution cameras give better quality images but again impacts on storage.2

Data can be stored indefintely, if there are legitimate reasons.1
