I previously had the library online thing. I hated it. Just couldn't get on with it at all. I just find the kindle much easier for browsing. It's odd, but I am happy to pay for maybe three months until the library reopens. Once it's open again will cancel it. I did get the first month free too.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

How secure is his job with Brent crude at 20 bucks and NBP gas at 13p/th?shoppingobsessed2020 said:Thanks @enthusiasticsaver his job seems to be relatively secure as he also has other sea going qualifications other than his oil and gas ones so can also work on cargo ships and chemical tankers. His company are always asking for him to go back early or do an extended trip so I’m pretty optimistic that it is secure. However what job is secure in this day and age and this current situation has really given me pause for thought as if anything did happen we would be bankrupt which I want to avoid!
He is away at the moment and unsure when he is due back due to this situation so I’m hoping I can make some headway into clearing some of this mess. Even if it’s only a couple of things cleared it’s showing him we can do it!Oil groups fear loss of 30,000 jobs at UK North Sea fields

Thanks for the concern @buythedip but thankfully he doesn’t work in the North Sea. He works deep sea and by that he works globally on tanker and in the past container ships rather than rigs (he’s never been on a rig in his life). I’ve been monitoring the situation as I’m aware no job is secure and his company have posted nothing with regards to potential job losses or redundancies and are still continuing to transport with no issues.1

OK good stuff
We earn similar to you guys. After buying a Mini on finance ten years ago we realised that it hadn’t made sense. When it came to replacing it 2 years ago (and buying a second car) we opted for buying 4 year old hatchbacks. They’ve been great (touch wood!) in terms of maintenance and reliability; it’s awesome hanging onto more of your take home pay and being able to bin one more direct debit. I’d wince at paying one third of what you guys do a month now, even if it meant driving something cooler than a Fiesta

No, I get that. It isn't as user friendly. You obviously get your money's worth it of it, but just thought I'd post to suggest to others who might be able to bear it whilst they're flat broke and can't justify the spend right now. Roll on the libraries reopening! (When it is safe to do so, no rush 😂)Drawingaline said:I previously had the library online thing. I hated it. Just couldn't get on with it at all. No problem! Can't wait for the library to reopen, but imagine it won't be seen as essential for a while yet. Would also mean I could take the 12 books I have sitting waiting to go backDebt free Feb 2021 🎉1
