Furlough and The National Living Wage

Hi,
Having just received my first furlough payment I'm a little confused as to my entitlement.
In a nutshell my employer is saying that the amount I receive is based on my wage 'at the end of February' and the amount I received is in line with this.
However in April my wage was increased to the National Living wage of £8.72.
So is my employer correct or should my Gross pay be at the new rate of £8.72 (NLW) and subject 20% deduction under furlough? I understand that , after furlough, my wage will be below the NLW.
Thanks in advance.

As you are not working you are not entitled to NLWIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales2

The amount the Government will pay will be 80% of your usual pre-tax monthly salary, as it was in their last pay period before 19 March 2020 (this will likely be February's pay).

Once you return to work you'll be eligible for the new NLW. At the moment as you're not working you're eligible for 80% of what you were on before the furlough scheme was brought in. Your employer can choose to top this up but they are not obliged to.1
