Self employment

I need some help in anyone can! I am a self employed hairdresser and as everyone knows this industry has come to a halt due to the virus. I understand that the government are giving those people a grant of up to 80% but its of 3 years tax returns. I have only been self employed since October 2017 so I have only put in 2 tax returns. Does this mean I wouldn't qualify for the government grant? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊

You can claim if you put in a self assessment for the 2018-19 tax year which you would have done. From Govt website.
You can claim if you’re a self-employed individual or a member of a partnership and you:
- have submitted your Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018 to 2019
- traded in the tax year 2019 to 2020
- are trading when you apply, or would be except for coronavirus
- intend to continue to trade in the tax year 2020 to 2021
- have lost trading profits due to coronavirus

But you don't actually claim anything now.
HMRC will contact you once the system is up and running and advise you how to claim1 -
Thank you both so much that is very helpful and answered my question! Keep safe and stay well 😊😊1
