what does it mean to have a charge against a company

Hi
I run an accountancy/bookkeeping company from home and one of my clients would like to use my address as his company registered address.  This would normally be acceptable however his company has two charges against it from Interbay Funding Limited so I am wondered if I change the registered address to my home address if this will affect me in anyway.  Bearing in mine that this is my family home.
Any legal advise would be helpful.
Thanks

The charge is against the company, not the address, so that in itself is nothing to worry about from your perspective. What might be more of a concern is that as the registered office, anyone wanting to serve official papers on the company would come to your home address. An accountancy firm I worked for had about 50 client companies all registered at their office address for example. Generally speaking it didn't cause a problem, although on one occasion one of our client companies was allegedly involved in some dodgy drive tarmacing activities, and we had two trading standards officers arrive at our reception desk wanting to know why 'we' had been ripping off old ladies! Of course we explained that we were merely the registered office and gave them the address the company actually traded from, which they were satisfied with.

    Are you a qualified accountant?
If you are then I find the question unbelievable.
