Studio refusing payment.

I have a Studio account. I want to pay it off with my credit card, as the interest rate is much more preferable. However Studio are refusing the payment. And the only contact line open is to help those who are unable to make payments. I can’t find anything in the T&C’s that offers any help. I’ve spoken to my CC provider and they have confirmed that there is no issue their end, Studio have simply refused to take the payment from my CC. I’ve tried various amounts from the monthly payment to the full balance and I get the same message every time.

There is a big red box in the middle of your pic that says your transaction is declined due to "risk" which their specialist department has assessed. Why not try by using a debit card. If you don't have funds in your current account to pay with a debit card, it may be that your seen as a risk which their specialist department has assessed.

Thank you, I can clearly see that. Why not try by using a debit card. Had I wanted to do that, I would have done that and this post wouldn’t exist. If you don't have funds in your current account to pay with a debit card, it may be that your seen as a risk which their specialist department has assessed. I fail to see how making a payment to an account is seen as a risk.
Honestly, I can’t tell if you’re trolling or you’re actually being genuine.

Starfang, you arent allowed to pay credit with credit. Thats why they are rejecting it.

If the amounts are suitable you could pay it (or some of it) with a debit card and use your credit card for groceries etc to balance it out.

    @EimearF
Studio will allow payment by CC. See terms
This is the easiest way to make a payment. Just log into My Account, select Make a card payment and complete your payment details using your debit or credit card.
Please allow up to 48 hours for your payment to show on your Studio account.

Thought I was being clear if somewhat blunt but perhaps you may be able to explain this yourself.

Studio won't explain their "risk" calculations and they will be dynamic anyway - changing as they get more information about you, your category, or even your postcode. So to check what has happened they try to buy something from Studio on credit (for return so you don't add to debt) or buy something with your CC (for return so you don't add to debt). If one or both of these refuse you, you have the answer. If both allow you to purchase, then the issue will be paying debt with debt - though it won't be totally clear as they won't explain their checks (which are dynamic anyway)

Can you call them as technically you 'cant' make you payment and see if they can try it again.
Are all the details the same on the two accounts? It could be an issue with verification of the credit card.

@Galloglass that’s much clearer, I’ll probably follow your advise and use my CC for day to day use and make the same payments off the Studio bill.

@elimearF I’ve called Studio, they’ve called me back today and they cannot process the payment.

In regards to not being able to pay debt with debt, isn’t that what balance transfer CC offers do?

It seems to me that Studio would prefer to keep me in debt to them - thus receiving more interest due from me overall, than allow me to pay this off with my CC, allowing the CC company to receive the interest instead.

@StarFang most credit providers dont allow it, it has to be through a balance transfer. Seemingly Studio do though as Galloglass said so its a strange one.

If studio are sticking with this then in this case I think TLC678910 has the best solution, use your card for groceries and petrol and then pay off what you owe to studio with your debit card.

@ElimearF I agree, this seems like my best option moving forward.

I’ve resolved this issue by using Curve.
