Occupational Sick Pay and SSP

I have been on long term sickness absence and am now on half pay - my employer pays 26 weeks at half salary. However I noticed that they did not give me the SSP. Is this right? If so then it means that their Sickness Absence Policy is wrong-misleading as technically the employer is not paying me 50% of my salary as they are taking the SSP. The SSP does show on the top line of my wage slip then on the next line a deduction is made to offset it. Any clarification would be great.
PS - I am sure that they used to top up your wage with the SSP but over the past 5 years have come under new management who seem to be sneakily making changes.

If your sick pay policy states you will receive half salary, and that's what you are receiving, then your employer is paying you correctly and in line with their policy. The employer can no longer claim reimbursement of SSP from the state, so the employer has to foot the bill for it.3

If your company pays occupational sick pay which is better than SSP, then that's what you get. You don't get both, unless your contract explicitly says you get a %age of salary + SSP.3

It would be a wonderfully perverse incentive to go off sick if you got paid your normal salary plus SSP, wouldn't it?!3

What do you by ‘they are taking the SSP’?
i think you misunderstand the nature of SSP as there is no way for your employer to ‘take it’0
