Mortgage Porting agreed In Feb

Hi house under offer found another house porting mortgage with Clydesdale to new property all agreed back in Feb.   Since covid-19 our purchasers purchaser pulled out but they have found another buyer (yet to offer due to covid-19).  We paid £499 fee to port mortgage and £100 valuation fee.  The mortgage porting offer last until early August (6 months).  I asked Clydesdale what happens if the move doesnt happen before then they have told me we would have to reapply to port mortgage - I asked what about the fees we have been charged they said we would have to phone nearer the time to see if they can be refunded to which I said so if we have to reapply are we going to have to pay £600 again they told me they couldnt say!!
