Child Benefit Question - 3 children.

Hey, I wondered if you could help me. I have tried looking on various websites, including gov.uk but I can’t seem to find a definite answer (although, I may just be being a little thick lol).
My wife and I are expecting our first child together (yay!) and she already has two wonderful children who live with us (7 and 11).
Our question is, can we claim child benefit for our new child when he is born in July?
We always believed it was capped at 2 children, so would not be entitled.

In these uncertain times, although our jobs are safe at the moment we just did a benefit calculator check, just in case in a worst case scenario and it came up as we could claim for three children?
We looked into this further, and some sites seem to say you can claim more than 2, some are not? It does not seem totally clear to us! Can someone help? Lol.
For info - I earn 34k, wife 16k. Our two boys are not disabled, and nothing to say our baby will be. We receive no other benefit or support.
thank you so much for any clarity.

Not sure where you've been looking but the gov.uk guidance is quite clear on this point.

Are you getting confused with other government benefits such as Tax Credits and Universal Credit?1 -
These are the special conditions where you can claim for more than 2.

Looks like you get child benefit for each child but any more than 2 are discounted for other benefits.1

Thank you guys for the replies.
I think I have been getting confused with all the other benefits! So, if we are only receiving child benefit and no other benefit, we should be able to apply for child benefit for my wife’s baby #3?
thanks again!0 -
I believe its £20.05 p/w for 1st child and £13.95 p/w for subsequent children... numbers might be a bit off...0
