Who can check my credit file to advise if I can get a mortgage?

Hi,
I would like someone to check my account and advise if I would be able to get a mortgage...and if not tell me what I need to approve so I would be successful in getting a mortgage. We are being gifted money for a deposit but I don’t want any nasties to appear and be rejected because of my credit etc. Who would this person be?

A mortgage broker should be able to do this without too much difficulty.1

A local mortgage broker. I assume that you have had issues in the past.1

I will on my credit record it shows I have missed a few payments and I have a poor credit score.0

Three main credit reference agencies:
MSE credit club, Clearscore and Credit Karma (all free).
Check my file is free for the first 2 or 4 weeks, then £15 ish a month.
A decent broker would require all three CRA reports or the one from CMF, as they need to see what's on it. Any broker who doesn't ask for copies is one you walk away from.
The broker needs to see the reports to make sure they can match you with the right lender. If things are not right for you at the moment, a good broker will also say why, what you need to do and when would be viable to try for a mortgage.
Some mainstream lenders are very strict and don't like any missed payments, another is slightly relaxed depending on the age.
Your score / rating is not seen or used by any financial institution as they have their own internal scoring system.
The content is what they see, so late / missed payments, defaults, CCJs etc.
This is potentially a long term financial commitment, you have a few shots at getting it right, it's stressful at the best of times, let alone having a few financial blips.

Its good that you have your credit report. We ask all customers to get them upfront.
But as has been suggested, a mortgage broker will go through your report and let you know likely options.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Dont get the free reports from MSE or Clearscore, clearscore is less than useless and the MSE one is a nightmare to read.
CheckMyFile is the best but even failing that, just the free reports or £2 reports from Equifax/Experian would be fine.
You can do it all via email assuming the broker is happy to work remotely (most are now a days).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. @CrunchThisDebt should be able to do it all online, via emails / phone calls, it's how I did mine.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

Ask them if they are happy to do it over the phone, email but I suspect they will say yes due to the situation, over the phone is best.0
