Try a spending diary that may help. Also meal plan (the old style board has some great ideas).
Re petrol there is a web site thingy somewhere that tell you who is selling petrol cheapest locally. Oh and make sure your tyres are at the correct pressure and take everything out of the car thats not needed (it all adds to the weight).
Hope thats something for you to think about.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

. The trap i fall into is paying loads off the CC on payday and then running out of money by the end of the month and spending on it again. Need to fix something more realistic i think.

what i do is pay say 50 quid to both of my cards, and stick another 50 in a diff bank account as emergency cash, if by the end of the month i havent dipped into it then i pay it off one of the cards.
this way im making more than the min payment plus a potential overpayment at the end of the month, also if the day before payday i have a surplus of cash (even if its under 10quid) i put it into my other account as well
anything i make from selling on ebay/amazon and thru quidco gets paid into my other account as well

works for me doing it this way but towards the end of the month i do need to think well i have 20 quid left and nothing i need rather than going and buying a magazine or takeaways

Thats a good idea, i think i'm going to focus on paying £75/week to CC and then chuck any other cash that comes my way at it.

Speaking of which, i had some fantastic news today!

I am getting a £750 tax rebate on friday! woo hoo

Add that to the £250 expenses claim and £70 ebay sales for this week and i have a huge chunk to pay :j :j :j
