When will salaries go back to normal?

Leaving your job and having no job.Comms69 said:But whats the alternative?
No job ... no bills being paid ... no house ... no food ... you die.
"Just get another then". As though it's like dropping your ice lolly on the floor and you just go get another out of the box of 10.
Some people may be lucky enough to be able to walk in to a job whenever they want. Many cannot (and that's in the good times, never mind these uncertain times).2 -
Depends what you mean by 'normal'. Crystal ball territory.[DELETED USER] said:I've noticed that on the few job ads there are the salaries have taken a massive hit, 20k+ in some instances.
That doesn't seem sustainable. Surely anyone forced to accept such a low wage will be looking to move on as soon as things recover from COVID-19.
Or are they expecting a long recession?

Some people have the gift of the gab, can make themselves sound wonderful but are completely useless. Majority of politicans for example. You would not trust most of them with the petty cash yet they run the country.TELLIT01 said:
On that basis I wonder how some posters on the board have ever managed to get a job. There are people here who seem to have worked in just about every sector imaginable (seemingly several at the same time if you look at their posting history) and experienced every scenario.

Or are they expecting a long recession?Or the other way at looking at is that all off those jobs have been overpaid and companies are just figuring it out. With the exception of business that have been told to shut, the majority of staff still working are the so called unskilled low pay ones.

Move on where? You have assumed that there will be jobs, and better paid ones at that, for people to move on to.[DELETED USER] said:Surely anyone forced to accept such a low wage will be looking to move on as soon as things recover from COVID-19.0 -
I can see a lot of people being stuck with it for 5+ years or however long it takes to fix (don't forget we will be hit with brexit too) and then leaving as soon as they can. I suppose companies think that's fine, these days people don't hang around for 5 years a lot of the time anyway.MEM62 said:

Companies want to keep competent and productive employees - sometimes they cant for various reasons, but to suggest companies dont value employees is shortsighted[DELETED USER] said:

Also, I can't believe that people are still banging on about how we are going to be 'hit' by Brexit.0
