NHS Annex 21/ Annex U Unsocial Hours payments.

Hello,
I've recently commenced a Band 7 training post in NHS Scotland under the Annex 21/Annex U traineeship program.  I have been notified of my salary, at 70% of the salary. However,  I can't find any information on unsocial hours payments, even on the internet! Are nights and weekends paid at 70% of the norm also? What about overtime and public holidays?

Many thanks in advance!

I see you're in Scotland so might need to double check same rules apply, but in brief only unsocial hours worked receive an additional payment.  So if you're sick or annual leave no additional payment.

Nights (8pm to 6am) and Saturday (midnight to midnight) earn 30% additional, and Sunday & Bank Holidays (midnight to midnight) 60% additional.

Thanks so much,  yes,  this is the case on a standard contract, and was the case when I was a band 5 staff nurse, but because I'm now in a senior position and will commence my nurse practitioner training,  I am on an Annex 21 (formerly known as annex u) contract, where I get 70% of the band 7 salary until I qualify. I can't find any info at all if unsocial hours are also paid at 70% or if they are excluded from the reduction.
    Many thanks!

Unsocial hours will be time + 30% or 60% of your pay rate which is 70% of the band pay.

So, yes it will be at 70%

They will be paid at the normal %age premium (eg 30% nights). But that will be based on your (reduced) Band 7 salary.

Thanks everyone,  it does of course make perfect sense, it was just driving me mad that there was nothing in the policy!

    Thanks!
