£43.79 /£100 spent until here, however, that should see me until midmonth so hopefully it balances out. Trying very hard to minimise supermarket use as to be honest, it makes me nervous to be around so many people.
(especially - small rant here - when there are people with masks that don't cover their noses, or they're constantly touching their face with their gloved hands, or blithely ignoring the directional arrows. Would far prefer to see people without PPE but behaving sensibly!)Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

A nice round £50 spent between the butchers, the bakers & the market today. A little more may vanish on Sunday if I think there'll be any fabulous bargains to be had, but we don't need anything as such.Angie - GC May 24 £162.50/£450: 2024 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11

Did our first shop of the month today and should last till next week. Trying to only go once a week with sometimes a quick stop for another milk in between as DH gets through so much ( there’s only 2 of us and we get through 3 to 4. big 4 pints a week 😳).
Went to Al@i and spent more than planned as I always get carried away even though we’ve got plenty in. (£63.57 out of £200 now spent). Next week i’ll Be much stricter and try and stick to my list 👍( else I’ll never make budget). I’ll try and meal plan with cupboard and freezer stocks as I definitely think I have quite a lot in for us. Bought lots of fresh fruit and veg, 2 bottles of wine, teabags, toilet rolls, and other essentials. I bought no meat or cleaning stuff so I’m not sure how it added up to that. I’m hoping all this will set a new habit of only shopping once a week because it does feel like you can budget better this way.

I'm in! I can't stand spending so much on food shopping at the moment - having to go with whatever brand is available, and trying to only use the shops closest to me to minimise my movement is making saving really tough.
We're spending, on average, £120 a week, including the top ups of fresh milk, bread & veg10 -
Supermarket/fruit and veg shop today (plus coffees!) comes to $120.
Made some coconut flour cookies this morning which were pretty good, but DH still asked for some of 'his' snacks at the s'market.... *sigh*March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU

Please put my budget down as £123.60 for May
Thanks Elsiepac. We had £3.60 left over from April. I haven’t caught up with the thread yet, so apologies for not responding to people. I’ll try to catch up later.
Did my first shop yesterday afternoon in our big, local MrT’s. It’s a drive, so I haven’t been in there in over six weeks. (DH went in April.). Queued for 45 minutes to get into the shop and spent less time than that actually doing the shop. There were no queues at the checkout either.
The shop was well stocked, although the vegetable aisle was a bit truncated. I actually managed to pick up some YS items: bratwurst sausages marked down from £3 to £1.26; some chicken lattices at £1.60 (was £3.75); 500g “Finest” mince for £1.28 (was £4); and some fish cakes for £1.79 (was £2). Stocked up on a few bits too: split red lentils 2kg/£3; Atta flour 10kg for £5; Options flavoured hot chocolate at £2.50 (marked down from £4), so I bought 4 (we use 1 teaspoon of the flavoured stuff and 2 teaspoons of own brand per cup).
In the end, I spend £66.06, which surprised me because I lost track fairly early on, had a full trolley and most things seemed more expensive. The Bulk Fund is paying for the flour and the Options (£15 total), so yesterday’s Grocery Challenge spend is £51.06/£123.60 leaving £72.54 for the remainder of the month.

My first post and not quite sure I know what to do tbh. Always spend far too much on food 2meqt eaters 1 vegetarian 1 vegan 2 dogs2 cats and I’m afraid to look at what we spend on food but I ok now it’s far too much🙄😢 how do I start accountability please ? I’ve already done one big shop starting this month so will now keep every receipt even for small things to see what I really sormd9

That's the best way to start abrooksaver. Collect all your receipts for the month so that you can see how much you actually spend. You are then in a position to know whether you're happy with the amount or whether you need to reduce it and by how much. You should try to reduce it gradually as if you just try to reduce it by a large amount you're setting yourself up to fail. For example if you spend £350 this month, perhaps reduce it by £20 to £330 next month. Do that for a couple of months and then reduce it again until you get to an amount you are happy with.
Hope that helps.10 -
Can I be put down for £300 please.
