Remortgaging and home rights

Hi,

my husband is trying to buy me out of our home (of 14 years). Only his name is on the mortgage and I had home rights granted on the property to protect myself once we separated.
He is telling me I must remove these rights for the remortgage (HSBC) to go ahead.
I am uncomfortable removing the rights I have to my home in the event that this remortgage falls through for what ever reason. (Then I don’t have rights to my home or my money).
Though I have given my permission for the remortgage to go ahead, apparently that’s not enough.

Does anyone know if it’s compulsory for me to remove my home rights on the property he is remortgaging for?

Thank you.

It'll be necessary for the remortgage to complete, yes. If you don't trust him then you instruct your own solicitor to act for you in the transaction, and they'll ensure everything completes simultaneously.
