Hi guys, I am completely new to instagram and am finding quite a few competitions ask you to share to your story. When I click on the share icon on the pc there is no option to share to story. When I do the same on my phone it says 'add post to story' why do I not have this option on the pc, how do I do it on the computer? If I ever work out how to do it, how do I tag the competition host?
Thanks Helen
Thanks Helen

In all honesty, I don't think there is an option on the PC. Someone please tell me if I am wrong!
I do most of my entering on the PC for IG and if any ask to share to the story I pick up my phone and do it on there...1 -
Exactly what EmmaLauren93 said, there's no option to do it. Instagram is primarily a mobile app so they put all the features on there as they want people to use that. You can access it on a PC but it has limited functionality. I do the same and just find the competition on the app when I need to share it to my story2

If you are talking about tagging them in the story,..
Click the little share arrow, click "Add post to your story", when the post comes up, click on a blank part of the post and it'll bring up a text box/keyboard with some colours.. type @username and select them from the list (or just type it in full). Once you've done this it'll show both the original post and the username in the middle. I tend to drag the username text just above the post so it stands out. Once you've done that, just click on 'Your Story' and it'll be done0 -
Sorry I'm not using the correct terms, yes that's what I was after. The bit about clicking into a blank part of the post was exactly what I needed. Thanks ever so much for all your help, I will have a play with it :-)

OK, another Instagram ignoramus here...
I tend to only do Instagram comps that ask you to like a picture and tag friends as that can be done from my laptop. There are a few that offer big prizes, so I do those on my phone, by screenshotting and adding the image, tagging the comp host on the picture and using the # in the comment. Never won, but assume this is the right way?
Now, I have a collection of photos where the comp requirements ask you to use your own photo that show on what I always saw as my "Page." Is this different from my story? How?
Would my story be a permanent fixture on my page?
Told you I knew not-a-lot!
