Won't Furlough

I work for a company on a contract for services basis but played by them through PAYE. I am 66 and Diabetic and want to stick to the government's advice and stay in and stay safe. However because the company are offering a bit of work that refuse to furlough any casual staff even the vulnerable. I have written to them and even sent them your fact sheet. Not interested.
Is there anywhere for us to go ?

no is the short answer.
furlough is entirely at the companies discretion, nobody can make them.4 -

I was wondering if you are professionally competent to provide that answer? You may be right but if you are not and that causes financial loss you be may at risk of legal action. Remember, as soon as a court gets involved, forum administrators may be compelled to release details about you. In other words, you should always be prepared to stand up (in court if necessary) and justify any of your remarks or "advice".0 -

Even if the statement is wrong, this is not a professional forum and no one is being advised to do anything. No service is being provided, same as if someone tell you something in the pub. You can't then take them to court to say they advised you wrong.6 -
To the OP
At 66, you may be able to access your state pension or pension credits. Also look at council tax reduction and low income tariffs for your utilities. All of the above are available now.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

My post was 100% factually correct, there is no grey area or different interpretation possible, furlough is down to the employers discretion. Here’s the definition of furlough, the opening lines of the guidance;
If you and your employer both agree, your employer might be able to keep you on the payroll if they’re unable to operate or have no work for you to do because of coronavirus (COVID-19). This is known as being ‘on furlough’.
That might change, but in the 3 weeks since it was introduced it’s shown no sign of changing yet. Being furloughed requires your employer to agree, nothing can happen without their agreement.
I could quite happily go to court and state that, however I won’t have to, courts won’t be ruling on everything everyone has ever posted on a forum, this is not going to become the next PPI, we’re never going to see adverts on tv “asked for advice, on an anonymous online forum and lost out? We’ll claim ££££s for you now” nobody on here is posting with professional liability insurance, because it’s not needed.7 -
If someone wants advice from a suitably qualified professional they should seek out such a person and pay the required fee for their services, not expect the advice for free on an Internet forum.2

Ah the penny drops. Michael fell out with Gary in this thread and now he is trying to wind him up:
