Compensation payment

I am discharged from bankruptcy in April this year. I also have two years left on my income payment. Recently had a car accident, not my fault. They are offering me compensation for whiplash. Do I have to declare this to OR, do I get to keep the money?
Thanks

isn't compensation for whiplash meant to be help towards medical bills etc? I would mention it to the OR but explain the money is for medical stuff etc and see what he says...
Maybe i am too honest for my own good but at the end of the day, that money is to help you out of a traumatic experience so the OR should have no right to take it away from you PLUS you were discharged so it shouldn't affect you at all?
You may need that compensation money to go on holiday to get over your experience!! This money shouldn't affect your income payment.
oooh and well done for being discharged!!:T0 -
I think your obligation once discharged is to notify the OR of any changes in income. Nothing else.BCSC Member 70:j

i had a accident in a famous supermarket carpark and got £500 compensation for personal injury, i called the OR and declared it and the OR said that because it was a low amount and it was for personal injury they were not interested in the money i was well chuffed.

Is it solely for injury or is there an element for loss of earnings/income?
Your best to let them know and you are then clear to use it.0
