in Cutting tax
Hi,
My daughter finished working her notice from a job in March.
She has been taken on by another company and was due to start at the beginning of April but this has been deferred until the end of the coronavirus.
Her savings mean she is not eligible to claim universal credit but can she apply to have her National Insurance stamp paid?
Thanks.

Register for Jobseekers Allowance - that will mean her NI is credited.0

Thanks, can she do this if she has accepted a position, even though she doesn't know when she is starting?0

Not convinced about her getting Job Seekers Allowance if she left her previous job by her own free will. She could ask her old company to put her on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. That is allowed as HMRC accept that people changing job will have similar issues.

As it is only the start of the tax year, I wouldn't worry too much about NI at this point. You only need to earn 6240 in a year for it to count, so even if she doesn't work for a few months, she will likely still earn enough for the year to count.1
