Membership frozen

Hi, my local golf club agreed to freeze membership for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak. I pay monthly by DD.
I am confused as to whether payments will be stopped or whether I will  get additional membership at the end of the term.
I have e-mailed them regarding this but have had no reply.
Can they stop the DD at their end or do I need to initiate this?
I am concerned that if I cancel the DD they could say I have breached my contract and I would have to sign up to a new deal.
Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Direct debits are controlled by the organisation you took it out with unless you cancel it.

Have you tried emailing them again? They have probably received a lot of emails and their mailbox is most likely inundated. Their non-response is probably not intentional.

My gym membership has been frozen, but I paid for 1 year upfront (so it is not a direct debit payment like your golf membership). Anyhow, we received a generic email stating that members will get an extension regarding when our 1 year membership ends.

They have been in contact and frozen my payment at their end.
    Thanks for your help.
