Department store chain Debenhams has fallen into administration for the second time in a year – though the company will continue to trade online and says it aims to "reopen and trade as many stores as possible" once restrictions put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic are lifted...
There was an item on ITV News about this on Wednesday. They went to Westfield's store (on the outskirts of London) and showed that the store there had already been stripped of all it's stock.
Yesterday I went past our local Debenhams store, and guess what, that too had all its stock stripped from the store. In contrast, the local John Lewis store which is also closed at this time had only removed it's most expensive items (presumably for security reasons), but most of their stock still remains in store.
The mutter from the gutter is that Debenhams owner, Celine, who took them over this time last year in a prepack administration agreement, is now planning on selling all it's stock valued at £10,000,000's via it's online platform, and once it's gone, so will Debenhams be.
It makes sense to move the stock from branches to their warehouses, & then be able to sell it online. Debenhams tends to be more clothing based than John Lewis, & so that may be easier to move. Have to see what Next does, if they also move stock from stores back to the warehouse.
Has anyone heard what will happen to the paper Reward vouchers you get with your Debenhams card statements in the post? You can't usually use them online, only in-store, so are these now worthless until/unless stores open up again?

Does it say anything on their website?
The link is in my earlier post.
Thanks, there wasn't anything about this on their website, but I've just received an email from Debenhams, quoted below:
Your reward vouchers will be accepted in Debenhams stores when they re-open
Any reward vouchers issued to you in January 2020 that expire before Debenhams stores re-open will be accepted in the first month following stores re-opening.
Wedding suits were paid for and ordered for hire but the wedding has been cancelled. We have contacted Debenhams and they said we had to wait for the store to re-open. This was before they went into administration, will we still get our money back it’s over £300
