I cant find or think where I can possibly ask about this, but I am looking for a refillable plastic toilet block holder (the ones that go under the rim).
The reason is that, as most of you may be aware, that Harpic make those cheap £1 for 2 toilet blocks which are simply stuck over a plastic insert, but the soap block tends to fall off after being around half used up. However they are not only the cheapest blocks available but they smell great and even by the time they fall off have outlasted more expensive blocks that come in plastic holders, which are also create more waste waste as you need to keep on disposing the plastic holder after its used up.
These cheap ones say they are good for up 1000 flushes and they do last a very long time, the more expensive ones that are around £1.50 for a single block inside a plastic holder say they only last for a few weeks.
I am trying to find a generic refillable plastic holder that I can use to detach these cheap blocks and place inside a holder, but frustratingly no one seems to make these. I would be fine to buy one that comes with a block inside, but it needs to be possible to open and refill, and needs to fit the harpic block which is 3x2 inches in size.
Usually people wouldn't want to do this as its considered a dirty thing that they wouldn't want to use their hands for - I literally already pick these blocks out of the toilet when they fall off and plop them in the cistern to at least use them up, but unfortunately they only last for a few over concentrated flushes then.
I understand that this issue is incredibly silly and frugal, but I have tried for ages to find reusable toilet block holders for this purpose alone and am now resorting to try and ask here. These £1 for 2 harpic toilet blocks are potentially incredible with how long they should last and how nice they smell, if only they didnt keep on falling off after being around half used!

Can you find an S shaped meat hook that would fit over the toilet rim? Then you would only need to find a plastic container of the right size that could fit over the end.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Well, if you can't find one, you can make one. If you don't know anyone with a 3d printer you could mash together something yourself with [ my favourite thing] sugru or silicone and plastic. A scalpel will cut out the plastic [ or a new blade stanley knife] and a thin coating of silicone will stick it together. You might have to experiment a bit though. I'd imagine that shower gel plastic bottles could be a good start.

What about using the netting from a bag of onions attached to a suction pad or a hook?
