Hair tips

I had my final straw with hairdressers years ago when I was tricked into having my hair styled and paid for it and have never been in a hairdresser since. Not as bad as you think because I am a qualified hairdresser so........
I have cut everything from long hair to short bobs on myself with this

You use it like this

My tips are though have completely wet hair
After your first cut check the sides are level by pulling a small section from each side of your head in the same place (you have seen your hairdresser do it)
Next lean your head forward comb down and cut any stray ends, start at the back and work forward this also creates an undercut which helps straight haired people get that tuck under.
For curly haired people you may want to cut with a frown rather than the smile in the video, I find if I cut with a smile my hair springs and I get a page boy!
If you are not brave enough take that cut you can help keep your hair in the best health by putting some essential oils on the ends to keep them nicely conditioned and help prevent splitting, rosemary and sage are good ones Hair Buddha is an excellent site for others you would be surprised you probably own something already! You only need a very small amount or your hair will look greasy and its easiest to put it on wet hair.

Oh, and you could carry on oiling your tips when life has returned too normal to prolong having to have your hair cut and save some money.

Essential oils don't do an awful lot for hair (they're usually more effective on the scalp) but most ordinary plant oils contain fatty acids that can help keep the hair moisturised and flexible - but only if it's hydrated to start with, as oiling dried-out hair just locks moisture out so is useless. So yes on wet hair is good, and I agree you really do only need the tiniest amount
I use oil as a 'rinse' between shampoo and conditioner; I put a small puddle in my palm, apply it, swish it in a small amount of water in a jug to spread it properly, rinse, then condition. My hair is calf-length, so for shorter hair just a couple of drops would do!
I also oil pre-wash once a week, then put conditioner on for a few hours before washing to help get the oil off better than shampoo (the conditioning ingredients emulsify the oil), then shampoo, oil and condition as normal.

Watched these and did mine last week. Relatively easy though the first clipper cut is scary.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.2 -
You are brave suejb2! I was tempted when my hair was suffering from trauma so was in a right state I chickened out of a pixie and went for a constantly tied back bob until it recovered. I think it will be my old lady hair cut though.I haven't looked at haircutting videos for a few years now they are great examples you found! I love Carmen Shenk her laugh is so sweet, such a positive attitude and great cutting technique1
