Section 75 refunds 'suspended'

Talked to First Direct about a S75 refund on a travel cancellation. They say they've been advised by Visa not to do any currently, or clawbacks, 'to give travel companies time to adjust.' This is a case where the travel company isn't responding to calls or emails and clearly cancelled the holiday.
Timescale is a 'couple of weeks'. I suggested that was about the maximum time they had before legal claims came and the agent laughed.
Unfortunately this implies that I would be best off if the company clearly went bankrupt, which isn't a nice moral place to be.
(apologies if this has been discussed to death, I DID do a search!)

It's around two weeks since I contacted Barclaycard my credit card company by secure message about a cancelled return flight leaving me stranded abroad and I haven't had a response.
There is going to be an almighty blame game and buck-passing here. I think I'll be lucky to get my money back by Christmas. Like you I anticipate going to court, but it's unlikely that system will cope any better than travel agencies / banks / airlines have done.
So don't expect any quick fixes.2 -
The credit card companies are not going to take the hit unless it's a last resort .
Until the vouchers/refund situation is clarified they will do nothing .
Expect the card companies to take the stance that a voucher from the holiday company to absolve them of any involvementEx forum ambassador

Visa and Mastercard have issued temporary guidance - I can't add the link though!

You can add it if you put spaces plus dot for a stop etc. Someone will then put it back together for you.0

I submitted a s75 on 30th March. I still haven't heard anything so will do some chasing tomorrow. I'm not expecting much in the way of cooperation from the card company though.1

Is your scheduled return home flight still going ahead?Nebulous2 said:It's around two weeks since I contacted Barclaycard my credit card company by secure message about a cancelled return flight leaving me stranded abroad and I haven't had a response.

Cancelled return flight, as I said. Emailed me to say my return flight was cancelled and they were hoping to give a refund by voucher. Don't contact us, we'll email when we have more info. In complete breach of their responsibilities. Alternative flights were very hard to find, with some people having several cancelled, leading to the offer of more vouchers.badger09 said:
