O/S Daily Wednesday 8 April 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy dull start and air feels quite chilly.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit, I'm showered dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, fried mash potato, mushrooms and beans. Tonight possibly be pasta with a sauce and breaded chicken portions.
Work again for me, but last day until next Tuesday due to the Easter break.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Another day...another no plan day! I've the online courses to finish off, one is particularly interesting . There'll be a walk at some point. Didn't tackle the steep park hill yesterday, anyway it gets fairly busy with dog walkers and cyclist so perhaps not the best choice. My favourite walk round 'swan lake' is a drive away and we're not supposed to drive to exercise, so it's the mean streets of the West End for me!
I hope that everyone is keeping strong both mentally and physically. Hugs all round. Happy Wednesday to all.15 -
Morning all Where is everyone ?
Up late I took Ds to the station at4.30 then went back to bed another one with odd dreams apparently i told Dh you could open our front door without a key goodness knows the meaning of that . I am waiting to pick DD2 up from the station she had a night shift so we will see how she is her wedding plans have been changed again with an email from the registry office to say that her wedding has been rebooked for October to say she was devastated is an understatement and there was nothing i could or can do to make it better .
Right chores today are sort the van hire for the move and clean the bedroom window and blinds . Dinner is salt n chilli pork new potatoes and veg
Hugs to all who need them and extra strength to those who are struggling in these trying times . Have a great day xSlava Ukraini16 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here but meant to brighten up later on, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out for a while.
We went on a lovely bike ride yesterday managed 4.8 miles if I had of known we were that close to 5 miles I would have gone round the block
I did manage to fall off at one point but saved myself on a flint wall but my ankle smacked the peddle and was quite sore for a while , we had lunch when we got back and I had a shower and then fell into a deep sleep on the sofa for an hour or so, so it must be doing me some good.
Onto today I need to re-oil the gate out the front and we might pressure wash the conservatory roof, and I think OH is doing his dads shopping.
Something with leftover lamb for dinner will get my thinking head on, but I might do a kebab type meal with a pitta bread and a garlic dip and chips.
Will do my bike ride later and also have my nana nap.
Have good days all and stay safe xx15 -
Good morning, another sunny day and I'm about to hang washing on the line. More digging later, no other plans.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning All
Did you see the moon during the night? Spectacular! I set my alarm to get up to look expecting it to be cloudy but it was really beautiful.
It's dry this morning but no sunshine yet, washing is on the line as there's a bit of a breeze, nothing like yesterday though it was really windy. Well, the deck is finished - hurrah I hear you say - I'll shut up about it now. The next job is to de-moss the front drive, it's block paved so takes ages to get into all the little grooves. A friend's husband has just dropped off a load of logs, not sure what to do with them yet, hoping friends over the road can store and split them for me.
My neighbour told me yesterday that the big recycling bins near the shops are still in use so I popped down with some cardboard. I feel happier now I know I can still recycle, it goes against the grain to put it in the normal bin but that's all that's being collected at the moment.
I think I may have to go shopping today, so many things have run out but it's good to see that I've been using everything, some of the emergency tins are very near (or past) their best before date.
Gers, you should have given me a wave on your way past, bet you felt like carrying on to go home.
RR - how good is a pressure washer? It's seriously addictive!
How's Sparkle TA?
Hugs to all, keep safe and well and take care. XX14 -

Morning stay at homers

Sorry for AWOL yesterday I have had a couple of real meh days like everyone else I guess nothing much to say nothing much happening. As a result of my wallow the house is looking a bit rough round the edges so its back to taking things day by day. I can't do any big things which is frustrating but at the very least the basics need doing. My walking is rapidly going backwards and not in a moonwalk way now which I just can't have so onwards and upwards it is. The sun was nice to see yesterday slight boost so hopefully bit more today.
Mum didn't help the mood when she had the gall to complain that I was ordering too much for her and her tin cupboard was now full....
poor you mother!! She lives in a 3 bed house with an empty garage and 2 empty bedrooms so a box with some stock for the next few weeks would be obvious and sensible with th the lack of slots now but no lets just moan instead. The fact i am fighting at daft o'clock most mornings to get her a slot has disappeared as irrelevant when she has 3 cans too many in a cupboard unfortunately now so many people ...not mum....are being allocated priority booking then the chances of getting a normal slot are disappearing fast....those tins will be used pretty soon I reckon. She did finally apologise for moaning too much when I had a real go at her but it shows her complete unawareness of the real situation she is the epitome of "entitled to"
So back to it today washing cleaning and bins all needed
I also have some scabby bananas and apples so if I can scrape together enough flour I would like to make a crumble or a cake at some point recipe books here I come
Keep smiling everyone we will get there14 -

Good morning all,
The HT and I have been for our daily exercise - a walk round the block. we go very early and don't usually see more than one other person in the distance. The HT said that it definitely improves his mood for the rest of the day and I feel much the same.
The HT has offered to help me in the garden later. He doesn't know a plant from a weed but there are some things that need moving and I can't shift heavy stuff on my own so I'm sure I'll find things for him to do. He'll also refill the bird feeders which is mainly his job anyway (seeing as he's s much taller than me).
I made gingerbread bunny hugs yesterday and welsh rarebit. The freezer is reasonably full of food now rather than just ingredients so a day off from making things today. The other good news is that the bin men have emptied the bin - there was a bit of a dispute about PPE yesterday so it was looking dodgy for a while but they were on time this morning so it must have been sorted. I feel for anyone not able to stay safe just now though. A friend who was very good to me when I was widowed lost her sister in law to the Covid virus yesterday. Sister in law was younger than me and I feel so sad for my friend and her son.
Take care al of you and stay safe

Hello allHad another rough sleep or lack of it last night, seems I'm on the night shift now as I watched the clock go round til gone 5am. You'd have thought with all that exercise and fresh air yesterday I would have slept like a log, but no luck. Think I was worrying about this mornings events.Today we are going to the uptown surgery for Mr Fix It to get his oncology injection, I shall ride shotgun to keep him company but then I shall stay in the car. Then this afternoon it's hopefully back to de-rooting in the back garden. I must remember to bring down our 'van chairs to put on the patio, our patio chairs look nice, but are a bit hard on the derriere.Tea tonight will be more chicken cacciatore and if there is anything left Mr Fix It will do something cheffy and turn it into a type of tikka masala curry for tomorrow's tea. My freezers are full so we have no choice but to eat it all, as there's no room at the inn so to speak
Hugs to those struggling, but stay safe if you have to go out.Take care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13
