E: 08/04 1pm Newcastle Easter Challenge will see winning child enjoy a Red Arrows experience

Children have only until 1pm on Wednesday, April 8 to enter the challenge which involves creating an egg invention for a chance to win family passes to its current RAF Red Arrows flight simulator attraction to enjoy when the museum reopens. So get cracking! 

They are tasked with using recycled materials and at least one egg - either real, chocolate or something egg-shaped - to create an imaginative invention. And if a real one is used, they are advised to blow it first so it can be cooked and not wasted.

The egg either must be incorporated into the invention or the invention must be used to display, and protect, the decorated egg.

The invention can be a machine that moves or something to help in the home and staff have come up with their own idea to help inspire young minds, creating a Captain Egg Parsons on a mini version of the museum's centrepiece attraction Turbinia.

There are three age categories in the Easter Challenge competition: four to seven years; eight to 11 years and then up to 14 years. 

The family ticket to the Red Arrow simulator applies to the winners of the two older categories while the four to seven-year-old winner will receive free entry for up to four children to Discovery Museum's water play room plus mini Red Arrow experience passes.

Include child’s name, guardian’s name and telephone number with each entry. Winners will be contacted by Wednesday afternoon and entries will be displayed in image galleries on Discovery Museum’s Facebook page.
