a mate has been laid off from his PAYE (furloghed) after 14 years with the firm on no pay and is expected to wait till june or whenever HMRC cough up
ive told him the firm should pay him is 80% out of employee tax/stamp and income and sort it with HMRC asap but not make him suffer

My heart agrees with you 100%, but where do you believe the company is going to get the money to do that if they aren't generating any income?

Company is trading, only 2 laid off, 4 kept on, takings circa £160K/year (mainly cash), premises costs low (small office)
Has been this way for many years so to send him home on nil pay after 14 years (on contract of employment/PAYE) seems harsh. he only work 3 days a week on the NMW anyway.
Takings of 160k? that's pitifully small, how do they even afford 6 employees? - no wonder they've got no cash to pay their employees. Surprised they're bothering to keep trading
  • i currently work for an agency doing driving work however due to the current situation have had no employment for the last 2 weeks. I have read through all the requirements needed to qualify for the furlough 80% payment of my average wage and i do qualify due to being paid through PAYE so have contacted the agency to ask if this will be happening as i am continuing to declare my self available although the agency cant find me work which means i currently have no income. I  am repeatedly being told ( we are exploring all options and should have an answer in the next few days ) then i have to email again asking if there are any updates. I believe that due to me being a professional driver the agency are just holding out expecting to receive requests for delivery drivers however this isn't happening which means i am still without work and consequently income. Do i have any rights regarding wanting the furlough payments from the agency for the weeks they couldn't provide me with work?
