Peri menopause

Hi, please can someone help me, I'm 49 this year and although my periods have been a few days later each month for the last 12 months, still regular, except now, had a couple of spots on due date and nothing since,(no chance of pregnancy) but I'm really struggling with night sweats, waking up and shivering with water dripping down me, no other problems.  I going through this lockdown alone and wonder if I'm panicking for no reason, please any advise you would be brill and also advise on coping with night swears xxx

What helped me through menopause and is different for every one was diet and exercise.
I know it's difficult because we cannot go out, but during my time I walked every day - sometimes 6-8 miles during the week and 10 miles at the weekend.  Without exercise, not sure if I would have been able to cope.
I also cut out soda, sugar, salt, white flour.  My diet became more healthier - more fresh salads, vegetables etc.
(I had given up eating meat and chicken in 1989)  - menopause started in 2012.
There are are walking exercises on youtube like this one.

As long as you have internet you can start slowly and build up from there.
One of the reason why I choose exercise was that I heard from numerous people how mad menopause was and I really did not  want to take any medication before trying something first.
My sister had it real bad similar to yours and a bad mood to go with it.

My advice for getting through it.
Lay off Processed carbs....and concentrate on salads, meats, fish, eggs....anything that can be considered natural, so not made in a factory or squeezed out of a cow.
    Try some different teas.

    And exercise.

Its tempting to comfort eat when feeling low, and turn to the biscuits and cake. But stick with a steak or banana and you wont go far wrong

My advice, based on my own experiences, would be for now to start taking the meno support vits you can buy in most major supermarkets on 3 for 2, I liked the tesco ones but have heard good things about the asda ones too, they have virtually the same ingredients, when the situation we are in is sorted make an appointment with your doctor to discuss hrt, nothing works like it.

    Mine is exercise

Seriously a couple of miles of brisk walking 4 times a week stops my night sweats

Other things is cotton sheets and a very light duvet, Right now Im skipping the duvet and using a lap blanket, one that's not fleece, fleece is too hot. I like the cotton bedding so I always have a cold side of a pillow to turn to. Cotton also help wick the wetness away. I have a double sheet folded under my bottom sheet as well to protect the mattress , under the mattress protector. Im using the lap blanket at the moment because I share a bed and he feels the cold. I start under the duvet and then shove it aside and throw the blanket over me. Keeps me warm without getting me pouring with sweat or freezing cold and I do manage a good couple of hours

Window open, no rads on in the bedroom and not hitting the nest until that tired Im going to fall asleep in minutes

And cut out/down any alcohol as that impacts on sleep as well.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You don't need any of this stuff that really doesn't contain much of anything if women would just improve their diets.

Take out any soy for example....and it's in most chocolate.....so fund good chocolate without it in.
Soy is a poison unless it is fermented.

Paleo diets are a good PeriMenopause diet because they are based on all natural....no factory processed....no processed carbs etc

    Won't need any expensive supplements.

@QuackQuackOops Please try to be polite, I stated clearly this is what actually worked for me and might be beneficial to the OP, the (good value) supplements were suggested short term until an appointment with a medical professional to discuss further treatment can be booked, please also remember not everyone can stick to a specific diet for various reasons, lots of opinions and suggestions for a query are always good but there is no need to belittle others suggestions when making yours, this attitude is one of the reasons why I stopped posting on this forum a few years ago under a different username only to return and see that unfortunately not much has changed, good luck OP hope you get yourself sorted.

My post was polite.....sorry you think differently.
This is a money saving site and the supplements you suggested are expensive for what they are. They dont contain much that will help that a few dietary changes won't do anyway.

Pointing that out is not "belittling" your view. It's a difference of opinion.

I am of the opinion that dietary habits can be changed quite easily......but people often don't want to let go of their treats or even recognise what they eat is bad.
Women especially are quick to look for a tablet or cure or something that will solve a particular issue but are quite frequently unwilling to give up certain food....or even add foods in.

Peru menopause symptoms are a direct result of the diets we have.
